Vermicompost

What is Vermicompost?

Vermicompost is the end result of composting organic material using different types of worms, such as red wigglers (Eisenia Fetida) to create a blend of decomposed vegetable waste and cow, horses manure. Vermicompost , all so known as worm castings or worm manure, although worm castings are a far richer compost having been through the worm composting process for far longer than the Vermicompost the soil can be used as a high grade natural, organic fertilizer.

The process of producing Vermicompost is known as vermicomposting.

The pure worm castings we produce at biofert are used in most part to make our high quality organic biofert liquid foliage spray for grazing pasture and crops. This spray is air treated in our tanks for 24hrs -36hrs and then needs to be applied onto crops or grassland within 4hrs of stopping the air treatment for maximum benefit.

Large-scale vermicomposting is practiced in Canada, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, and the United States.now in France The vermicompost may be used for farming, landscaping, to create compost tea, or for home veg pach.

Biofert is now working with local farmers to supply large quantities of liquid bio fertilizer

Biofert's Vermicompost

Biofert's organic vermicompost

Biofert's Vermicompost is a nutritive organic fertilizer rich in micro nutrients, and beneficial soil microbes. They are scientifically proven to be excellent growth enhances and protectors for crop plants. In experiments with corn and wheat crops it displayed excellent growth performances in terms of the height of plants, color and structure of leaves, as well as the appearance of the fruit on average 20% greater yield There is also less incidences of pest and disease attack and reduced demand of water for irrigation. which suggest that biofert Vermicompost from our compost worms contributes to an over all healthier crop when used as a fertilizer.

Biofert Vermicompost is available in 1m3 big bags or 25kg garden sacks other amounts on request.

"Without the work of this humble creature, who knows nothing of the benefits he confers upon mankind, agriculture, as we know it, would be very difficult, if not wholly impossible"

(Charles Darwin 1881)

Biofert has multiple benefits:

Fertilizer Enhancer

Foliar Feed

Disease Suppressor

Insect Repellant

Soil Improver

Biofert vermicompost can be added as a top dressing over the vegatable garden. It adds over 1.5 billion microbs per cubic inch to the soil and standard compost that you have added over time.

Adding a small amount of pure worm castings less than 40% when transplanting new seedlings, this will insure good root growth from the start of the plants new position in the garden.

Worm castings will increase flowering heads on all plants and fruit trees, giving stronger pollination and a far better yield around 20% with most crops.

Spraying the roots and foliage with liquid biofert has been proven to help stop the attack of mildue and pests such as black fly and as a soil drench is a impressive soil improver and disease suppressor

Vermicompost is not the same as pure worm castings which is a misconception. Worm castings take a far longer time to make than vermacompost as the compost has to be fully consumed by the worms and can take up to a full year to produce.
